Closely related and running neck-and-neck with the "Sexual Freedom" that has helped wreck our culture, society and way of thinking, is the subject of divorce and remarriage. Divorce became a problem in the late fifties, grew in the sixties and seventies, and now has passed the point of concern. Nobody really cares about the subject much any more. Advice columnists have a wide variety of pat answers for just about any circumstance that can be engendered by divorce. As with sexuality, the person who suddenly becomes "Biblical" in his outlook will automatically become separated from the world on the topic of divorce. While Divorce may be expected to be part of the "New Normal" for the lost, The Biblical teaching on the subject will remove Christians from any mode of thought that avoids judgment on the situation. A few pointers. Even the Old Testament Law intended Marriage to be permanent -- with divorce not anticipated for righteous people. Even when divorce was granted, it was a concession to the frailty and sinfulness of man. And in the New Testament, remarriage of the "guilty party," was generally equated with adultery. For the New Testament perspective on the subject, see the Paper by Gary Bauer entitled "When One 'Puts Asunder'."
