In the midst of the writer's emotional turmoil and wailings comes this, seemingly out of the blue:
"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; thy are new every morning; great is his faithfulness."
We often get caught up in the frustrations and anxieties of our daily lives, or in the guilt of long-ago and/or on-going failings. We cannot simply wait for our emotions to begin to feel better. Just as did this writer, we can (and should) "call to mind" this great truth here expressed. Of course, this is dependent upon the extent to which we read and treasure in our hearts God's precious Word.

I can't deny that I need a thunderous dose of just such a message. This is perhaps why music means so much to me. I think of songs like "Great is thy Faithulness" and "It is well with my soul." and I am forced to settle down, to be still and know that God is the Lord. I enjoy that state, but don't seem to hang on to it for very long. Good verse, thanks. - Todd
