We need to frame questions in the Way Jesus did when he asked his disciples about His identity. First He asked "who do men say that I am?" He knew very well that most did not know who He was. Then He asked "but who do you say that I am?" He wanted to see if his disciples had yet been enlightened, and the responses yielded an instructive contrast. We should practice a similar routine in order to make sure we get the right answer. "What does the world say about X, Y, and Z?" That question will usually identify the wrong answer. "But what does the Bible say about X, Y, and Z?" The response to this question will give us at least the possibility of getting the answer right . . . if we don't spoil it. Todd
