Many years have already elapsed since the time when Christians should have begun thinking in earnest about the Christian counterculture. (And no, this does not mean "the Church," although that would be included.) Instead, America has died, and we did nothing to save it. We were too much a part of the problem. Let us be clear! We do not face problems for which there is a political solution. We cannot make things right economically. We are all suffering under the same philosophy or worldview, or at least we savor the same culture the current philosophy has bestowed upon us.
Democrats and Republicans, socialists and capitalists, we are all seeking a solution under the very philosophy that has produced our problems. It is like two sailors whose sailboat has capsized in stormy waters and who are swimming for their lives arguing about which stroke is the best. Never mind the argument, they are both drowning. Drowning is all they can do. Their fate is sealed. They sealed it themselves when they deliberately sailed into a storm. Arguing about it just allows them to swallow more water faster.
We do not need a solution! Our situation cannot be "fixed." What we need is an alternative mindset and culture. And it is too late for most people to see that fact and fewer still who care. Will Christians continue to rot with the corpse of their culture, or will they wake up and do something?
